Is Proloquo2Go, TouchChat or LAMP Words for Life on Android? What to use instead

Where these apps run, and their App Store prices (October 30, 2026)

We searched Google Play for each name on October 30, 2026; none of them was among the results.² Their makers list Apple devices, and for TD Snap Windows, as the places they run.¹⁴¹² LAMP Words for Life also runs on PRC-Saltillo’s Accent devices, which use Windows.¹⁰

The one Android route: NovaChat

PRC-Saltillo, the maker of TouchChat and LAMP Words for Life, sells NovaChat, a dedicated speech-generating device that “leverages the versatility of an Android platform”. Its listed vocabularies include WordPower and LAMP Words for Life.⁵ It is a device, not an app you can download, and in the US a dedicated speech device can be covered as medical equipment; see what is a speech-generating device and how to get an AAC device.

Be careful with downloads that claim to be these apps

Searches for these names on Android often suggest an “APK”, an app file from outside Google Play. Since the makers don’t list Android, any such file for an ordinary Android tablet doesn’t come from them: it could be out of date, a copy, or harmful. Install AAC apps from Google Play, or from the maker’s own site.

If the person already uses one of these

Moving a person who already talks with an app is a big change. Their hands know where words live. Trying devices is often part of AAC therapy, and how well a device suits someone may not be clear at first.¹⁷ Options to talk through with the speech-language pathologist:

1. Keep the app on an iPad for talking, and use the Android tablet for everything else.
2. A dedicated device, NovaChat included, if the person needs that vocabulary and qualifies for funding.
3. An Android app, rebuilding the most-used words first, in the same places if the new app allows it.

Before you switch, write down the person’s most-used words and where they are, take photos of the main pages, and ask the maker whether the vocabulary can be exported. Tap AAC (ours) opens Open Board Format files (.obf and .obz); check whether your current app can save to that format.¹⁸

What to use on Android

It depends on what the person used the other app for:

• A large core vocabulary with words that stay put, as in LAMP Words for Life or TouchChat with WordPower: look for an app where buttons keep their places as words are added.
